JVC developed what it calls the ‘pulsating sphere speaker’ with a 12-sided dodecahedron that is close to what engineers believe to be the ideal natural sound source, and is so revolutionary that it has led to the application for 17 related patents.
This new kind of speaker called “PULSATING SPHERE” or Quasar invented by JVC sports a 12-sided dodecahedral design, which unlike a regular speaker, pushes out sound in every direction. When one plays sound through the speaker, the sound appears to be coming from everywhere. This makes it an ideal speaker for human voices or musical instruments.
The entire surface of the speaker acts as an emitter, which means that it has the same frequency characteristics in every direction. This produces an effect where the listener is not fully aware that the source of the sound is a speaker. The result is supposed to be a highly natural sound that you don’t link to one particular speaker.
